Aslan. Lucy. Short. Savage.
Our homage to CS Lewis and his beloved Narnia books, this shirt showcases Seattle's own alpha male lion from the Woodland Park Zoo alongside young Lucy (portrayed by my unsuspecting niece from New York). In her hand she holds a Gerbera daisy, the favorite flower of SHORT+SAVAGE designer Matt Lu's wife.
The Subtitle verse (in this case, a quote from The Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe), in English and Swedish, comes from a conversation that the Children have with Mrs. and Mr. Beaver when they are told they will be brought before Aslan, the King:
"if there's anyone who can appear before Aslan without their knees knocking, they're either braver than most or else just silly."
"Then he isn't safe?" said Lucy.
"Safe?" said Mr. Beaver; "don't you hear what Mrs. Beaver tells you? Who said anything about safe? 'Course he isn't safe. But he's good. He's the king I tell you."
