The Daniel | The Lion's Den
How often do we find ourselves surrounded by things or situations that seem overwhelming, that bring us to a breaking point where we start to think that nothing can get us out of our current mess? If you're like us, it's often a challenge to bring God into the equation and remember that only he can pull us out of danger.
When King Darius of Persia made a decree that anyone who prays to any god or human being other than himself would be thrown into a lion's den, things looked grim for Daniel who three times daily prayed and gave thanks to God. But after spending a night in the midsts of a pride of lions who by all rights should have eaten him in the first few minutes of his evening with them, Daniel is unharmed. And even the king, who made the original decree that punished Daniel for his faithfulness to God, can't help but declare:
"He rescues and he saves... He has rescued Daniel from the power of the lions.”
We don't know what the night was like for Daniel as he rested among the lions, but when you have a bunch of warm, furry animals to rest on, we like to think he was chillin. The Subtitle verse, in English and Portuguese (but customizable for your group's needs), comes from Daniel 6 - “I issue a decree that in every part of my kingdom people must fear and reverence the God of Daniel. For he is the living God and he endures forever; his kingdom will not be destroyed, his dominion will never end. He rescues and he saves; he performs signs and wonders in the heavens and on the earth. He has rescued Daniel from the power of the lions.”
